Homeroom:Important Upcoming Dates - March Mar. 9 - Early Release Day Mar. 11 - All Pro Dads Mar. 13 - Daylight Savings Time Mar. 15 - PTSO Staff Luncheon Mar. 22 - Reading EOQ Mar. 23 - Math EOQ March 25 - April 1 - Spring Break Math:Students completed a series of station that reinforced all of the material we have learned this quarter. A class favorite was demonstrating knowledge and verbalizing the skill by illustrating how to solve a multi-step equation to find the value of a variable using Educreations, an app on the iPad. Science:Today was Gateway Thursday, students worked on the rough draft of their Gateway paper which is due in two weeks, March 24th.

It is recommended that students regularly check their grades in Blackboard to keep apprised of the assignments that they need to complete prior to the end of the quarter. Students should be going back and watching videos from their earlier iCurio unit to review what we did this quarter. We will be reviewing the week of March 7 and the first few days of EOQ week. Students who are absent should be continuing to work on their IXL's and Ten Marks lessons. Both of these digital activities are great ways to get immediate feedback on your progress and understanding. Science:Students have started a new unit in Science pertaining to the Earth and its structures. Students will be focusing on the following standards over the next few weeks:
6.E.2.1 Summarize and describe: -the structure of the earth’s layers based on their relative position. -the composition of each layer of the earth. -the earth’s layers according to density. 6.E.2.2 Explain: -how crustal plates and ocean basins are formed, move and interact using earthquakes to reflect forces within the earth, and move and interact using convection currents -how interactions between the lithosphere and asthenoshpere form volcanoes. 6.E.2.3 Explain: -how the formation of soil is related to the parent rock type and the environment in which it develops. 6.E.2.4 Conclude: -the good health of humans requires monitoring the lithosphere (stewardship), maintaining soil quality (stewardship). Tonight's math homework is a Matching Inequalities to Number lines worksheetSocial Studies:Today is the last day students are working on their family tree projects in class. Anything not completed by the end of class on today will be considered homework. Students will be grading their peers on their projects during class tomorrow. This will be the end of our first two weeks of Social studies activities. Students will spend Thursday working on their Gateway papers and Friday working on their Genius Hour projects. Next week we will start our units on the layers of the Earth. Heads up!! We will be making editable models of the layers of the Earth!!
