Homeroom:Math:Today students completed their CFA's for the coordinate grid and polygon units. We will start an new unit when we return. Any materials from the current is now past due. Science:Today in science we had a visit from a real scientist. Mrs. Eisenhofer's son, Joel did experiments with us that helped us gain a better understanding of states of matter, atomic weight and molecular attraction.
Homeroom:Tuesday, November 24, will be an early release day for our students so they can enjoy the Mooresville Parade that afternoon. All K - 6 grade students will be dismissed at 1:00pm and all 7 - 12 grade students will be dismissed at 12:20pm. Students will also be out of school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. We look forward to seeing them all back on Monday, November 30, on their regular schedule. Math:Today was a work day in math. Several students had multiple assignments to complete prior to the Thanksgiving break. Other students are working on an enrichment project involving research of a foreign country's landmarks, coordinate grid locations and writing word problems to help other students practice placement and measurement on the coordinate grid. Students will take their CFA for the 6.NS.8 unit and 6.G.3 unit tomorrow. Science:Students continue to conference with the teacher to determine their gateway project proposals. Students are also busy working on their periodic table unit in iCurio. Tomorrow we will welcome a visiting scientist, who will be demonstrating several experiments that demonstrate the attraction of atoms and atomic weight.
Homeroom:Math:Students will be wrapping up their unit on coordinate grids and polygons in the short week next week. When we com back from Thanksgiving break, we will be starting our unit on ratios, proportions and unit rates. Science:Students were given information on their 6th Grade Gateway project today. The Gateway project will be done in Science class this year, rather than Language Arts, and will be done in conjunction with their Genius Hour Projects. In the very near future, students and parents will have access to a Gateway informational link on the school website. Stay tuned for more details to follow soon.

Math:Students were busy completing their unit from last week, testing on the unit and starting a new unit on finding the distance between two points on a coordinate grid, finding the perimeter of shapes on the coordinate grid and finding the area of shapes on the coordinate grid. Students will need the map below in order to complete tonight's homework Science:Today, students built 3D models of Atoms in Science class! This was a spectacular hands on activity!

Students can donate canned gravy until November 20th. Math:Students have been doing a great job with inequalities and most have already worked through the unit. We started the unit on absolute value today, and it seems to be a unit that the students will complete rather quickly. The anchor chart for absolute value is below. Science:Although we had planned to make our 3D models of atoms in class today, the assignment was rescheduled for Monday. Students and parents had several concerns and questions about the project. I went over the project with the students again today in class, and I believe we are good to go for Monday. Students will be building a 3-D model of an atom in class on Monday. Students should start collecting materials from around the house for their models. PLEASE do not go out and buy materials for your child's model. These models are to be created by household items and recycled items. Some examples of the models from last year can be seen below.
